What: A Day That Belongs to Half the World
Every year on March 8, the world pauses to celebrate International Women's Day — a global recognition of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It is a day to honor the progress made, acknowledge the work still ahead, and most importantly, say thank you to every woman who has shaped our lives.
Why: Because Every Day They Show Up
Behind every great product, there is a team — and on that team, women are holding things together in ways that often go unnoticed. Behind every engineer debugging at midnight, there is a mother who stayed up even later. Behind every career milestone, there is a woman who was told "maybe not" and kept going anyway.
The women in our lives — mothers, partners, sisters, colleagues, mentors — carry an extraordinary amount without asking for credit. Today is a small attempt to balance that ledger.
How: Make It Count Beyond the Day
A flower is a nice gesture. But what really matters is the other 364 days:
- Amplify — when a woman speaks in a meeting, make sure her idea gets heard and credited
- Advocate — push for equal opportunities on your team, in your hiring, in your architecture reviews
- Appreciate — say it out loud, not just on March 8
If you have a woman in your life who has supported your career, your code, your chaos — reach out today. A message, a call, a coffee. It matters more than you think.
P/S: To every woman reading this — you are not just part of the story, you are writing it. Happy Women's Day. 🌸
